The Ottawa Judo Club offers two membership options: a 6-month or 12-month plan. If you’d like to try it out first, we also offer a Trial Membership for just $39.95.

How to Register for the Trial Offer

Step 1: Choose Your Program

Select the appropriate program based on age:

  • Kids Judo FUNdamentals (Ages 5–8)
    Wednesdays at 5:45 PM & Saturdays at 12:00 Noon
  • Youth Judo Development (Ages 9–13)
    Mondays & Thursdays at 5:45 PM, Saturdays at 1:00 PM
  • Adult Judo Development (Ages 16 & Up)
    Mondays & Thursdays at 8:30 PM, Saturdays at 9:00 AM
Note: If you have prior Judo experience, your Sensei will place you in one of our Advanced or Competitive classes
 

Step 2: Complete the Membership Forms

Fill out the Membership Registration Package, which includes:  Medical Form, Waiver & Liability Form

Step 3: Submit Payment & Set Your Start Date of your Trial
Once your forms are submitted:

  • Email info@ottawajudoclub.com to arrange your start date.
  • Include your full name and selected program listed below.
  • Send your e-transfer to:  bk@briankalsen.com

Step 4: Your First Class – What to Bring

Once your start date is confirmed, you’re ready to hit the mats!
For your first class, please bring:
  • Comfortable athletic clothing (e.g. sweatpants and a t-shirt)
  • A water bottle
  • Flip-flops or sandals (for off the mats)
  • A judo jacket and belt will be provided for your trial class.

Step 4: Register with Judo Ontario

All members must register with Judo Ontario. This is required for training and provides your insurance coverage.

MEMBERSHIP POLICY & REQUIREMENTS

Fee, Payments and Refunds
All fees are payable by e-transfer to: bk@briankalsen.com
All payments are non-refundable, including trial and full membership fees.
Family Discount
First family member pays full price.
Each additional family member receives 20% off per month.
Discount applies to the lowest-cost memberships first.
Membership Deferrals
6-month membership: may defer up to 1 month
12-month membership: may defer up to 2 months
Deferrals are allowed only for extended illness or long-term travel
Extra time is added to the next term, not the current one
Facility Use & Class Cancellations
Occasionally, classes may be canceled or rescheduled due to:
Church use of the facility (e.g. funerals, rummage sale, cookie walk sale)
Classes cancelled on Statutory Holidays
We will provide notice when possible
No refund or credits for missed or canceled classes
Late Payment Policy
Fees are due on the first day of the term
$25 late fee if not paid within the first week
$50 Total Fee if 30 plus days late
60+ days late: Membership may be suspended unless a payment plan is arranged
Contact us in advance if payment will be delayed

JUDO ONTARIO MEMBERSHIP (REQUIRED)

Membership in Judo Ontario is mandatory for everybody atraining at the Ottawa Judo Club. Judo Ontario is the provincial organization responsible for promoting and developing Judo in the province.

Membership provides substantial member benefits such as supplemental insurance against any injuries resulting from Judo training, as well as supporting seminars, referee training, provincial team development, and other activities that strengthen the future of Judo Ontario in order to participate in classes.

To register for Judo Ontario visit Judo Ontario Registration and under Find Club select “Ottawa Judo Club” – under Select Region select “East” – Under Membership Type  select “Mudansha”. The Judo Ontario/Canada membership fees for 2025-2026 is as follows:
