MEMBERSHIP & FEES
The table below lists the current membership fees for the Ottawa Judo Club. Please note that these fees do not include Judo Ontario membership. You must be a member with Judo Ontario in order to participate in classes.
To register with the Ottawa Judo Club you will need to fill out the Ottawa Judo Club Membership Package that includes the following forms; Membership Registration, Medical Information Form, Release of Liability Waiver, Assumption of Risk Agreement. Please note the following:
Potential new members are welcome to try our classes for a week for a nominal $20 fee to determine whether Judo is right for them.
- Additional family members receive 20% per month discount on all memberships.
- Payment can made by e-transfer to bk@briankalsen.com or by cheque made payable to Brian Kalsen.
- Members renewing for a term of 6 months or more may put their membership on hold for up to one month per year with one month notice. The held month will be added to the next term.
- All participants must be a registered member of Judo Ontario. See below for registration process and fees.

Judo Ontario Membership
Membership in Judo Ontario is mandatory for everybody training at the Ottawa Judo Club. Judo Ontario is the provincial organization responsible for promoting and developing Judo in the province. Membership provides substantial member benefits such as supplemental insurance against any injuries resulting from Judo training, as well as supporting seminars, referee training, provincial team development, and other activities that strengthen the future of Judo Ontario in order to participate in classes.
To register for Judo Ontario visit Judo Ontario Registration and under “Find Club” select “Ottawa Judo Club”. The Judo Ontario/Canada membership fees for 2023-2024 is as follows:

Belt Grading Fees
The progression of belt ranks is based on combination of factors, including technical skill, knowledge of Judo principles, personal growth and time in grade (attendance). Your instructor and the technical director will determine your readiness for the next belt. You will then be requested to undergo a formal grading, gradings are held 3 times per year. The average time in grade for the lower belts is 6 months to a year, for ages 6 and under it could be longer. Black Belts grading are conducted by the Judo Ontario Provincial Grading Board under the recommendation of the club technical director.
