COMPETITIVE JUDO PROGRAM

For athletes ages 10 to 18 focused on performance, development, and competition

The Ottawa Judo Club Competitive Judo Program is designed for committed judoka who have experience in regional competitions and are looking to advance to higher-level provincial or national events. This program blends technical skill development with aerobic and strength training tailored specifically for the demands of competitive judo.

Judoka in this program will be challenged physically and mentally as they work toward their individual goals in a supportive and focused environment.

Program Focus

  • Advanced technical and tactical Judo training

  • Aerobic, anaerobic, and strength conditioning

  • Randori (sparring) and competition simulation

  • Tournament preparation and mental toughness

  • Goal setting and performance tracking

Eligibility

  • Ages 10 to 18

  • Orange Belt & Up

  • Previous regional competition experience or by coach invitation

Class Schedule

  • Mondays: 6:45 PM – 8:00 PM

  • Thursdays: 6:45 PM – 8:00 PM

  • Saturdays: 10:30 AM – 11:30 AM

  • Optional Training – Wednesdays: 5:00 PM – 6:30 PM for U16 & U18 athletes (Orange Belt & Up)

  • Optional Open Mat Randori – Fridays: 5:00 PM – 6:30 PM for U16 & U18 athletes 5:00 PM – 6:30 PM (Green Belt & Up)

This program runs concurrently with the Competition Team group and focuses on preparing athletes for regional and provincial-level competitions through a structured, high-performance training plan.

LTAD Integration
This program aligns with the Long-Term Athlete Development (LTAD) framework:

Learning to Train:
Introduces physical, emotional, and cognitive integration. Emphasis on foundational sport skills and discipline.
(Adapted for younger athletes in the 12–14 range.)

Training to Train:
Focuses on sport-specific skill development, aerobic capacity, and strength building. Training is tailored to developmental milestones such as Peak Height Velocity (PHV) to optimize performance and reduce injury risk.
